Our summer collection has a variety of hand block printed cotton scarves from India. Block printing is a time honoured craft showcasing India's craft heritage. Trained artisans stamp traditional and modern motifs onto fabrics with great precision by dropping hand carved wood blocks in custom mixed colours. One block at a time, the master printer covers the entire surface of the fabric, colour after colour. Usually 3 or 4 printers work as a team to print one pattern, depending on the complexity of the design, intricacy of blocks and numbers of colours used. A printer may be able to print between 10 -15 running meters of fabric a day.
